Site for Intervention:AES Ground, University Area, Ahmedabad

About Site

The AES Hostel Ground is located in University Area of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It is a huge piece of land that is currently unoccupied and is surrounded by hostel blocks for students studying in various colleges nearby. The  placement of the hostel blocks is not defined and makes the space feel very isolated

The ground is majorly used for playing activities or sports by people all around or as a shortcut for vehicles to drive through. At certain edges, we see encroachment by homeless people who have built up temporary shelters due to displacement.
The most prevalent occupation here is construction work as the site is located right next to where the metro construction is taking place. A lot of fruit and vegetable vendors are also found along the edges of the ground.
The ground is isolated and used as a dumping ground for all kinds of waste.
